Job Summary:

As a Production Team Lead, you will oversee the production operations of our spray drying processes to ensure efficient and effective execution of manufacturing goals. Your responsibilities will include supervising a team of operators, coordinating production schedules, maintaining equipment, providing on-the-job training for team members, and reenforcing adherence to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in spray drying operations, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality products.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (preferred).
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience leading and motivating teams effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), environmental, and safety protocols, procedures, and compliance.
  • Experience in manufacturing and production environments, preferably with spray drying operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with staff and management.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (preferred).
  • Experience with forklift and pallet jack operation is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work 12 hours, rotational 3-2-2-3 shifts.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Safety and Environmental Compliance
    1. Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the production team by ensuring PPE is properly used at all times and Alltech’s Best Practices (ABPs) are applied in day-to-day functions.
    2. Enforce adherence to safety protocols, identify potential hazards, and take corrective actions to prevent accidents or incidents.
    3. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, waste management practices, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
    4. Immediately notifies management of any safety hazards or incidents and completes appropriate documentation to elevate the concern.
  • Quality Control and Compliance:
    1. Ensure adherence to quality control standards and compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
    2. Monitor the production process to identify and resolve any deviation or issues affecting product quality.
    3. Collaborate with the quality control team to conduct regular inspections, implement corrective actions, and improve process efficiencies.
    4. Maintain clean and orderly working environments in accordance with quality and facility standards.
    5. Review all production records for accuracy and completion daily.
    6. Always maintains a clean and orderly facility.
  • Supervise Production Team:
    1. Lead and supervise a team of batching, spray drying, and packaging operators to provide guidance, training, and support to ensure the successful execution of daily production goals.
    2. Coordinate work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor team performance to ensure efficient production operations.
    3. Foster a positive work environment, promote teamwork, encourage continuous improvement initiatives, and promote a safe working environment.
    4. Provide mentorship, training, and coaching to all team members to ensure individuals can effectively complete assigned tasks.
  • Production Planning and Coordination:
    1. Collaborate with production planning and scheduling teams to develop production plans, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
    2. Ensure the Production Schedule is adhered to, and any deviations are brought to the attention of management in a timely manner.
    3. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, such as quality control, maintenance, and logistics, to optimize production processes and resolve any operational issues.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    1. Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of spray drying equipment, ensuring that all machinery is in proper working condition.
    2. Liaise with the maintenance team to address equipment issues and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting
    1. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, yield, and quality, and take proactive measures to achieve targets.
    2. Generate reports on production activities, performance metrics, and process improvements, and communicate them to managements.
    3. Complete shift reports and participate in shift change meetings to ensure smooth team transitions.
  • Additional duties and functions may be assigned by management when deemed necessary to meet plant objectives.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to operate motor vehicle and forklift.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a production environment with varying temperature and noise levels.
  • Ability to take a pre-employment medical physical.
