Summary/Objective (role description):

The role of the Assistant Manager is to assist in coordinating the activities of the Assembly Department.

Essential Functions (duties and tasks summary):

Team members must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations, the essential functions of the role which may include, but are not limited to the following:

1) Assist in monitoring the production schedules to ensure product(s) are manufactured and scheduled delivery dates are met in order to plan department operations.

2)Assist in establishing priorities for the department to achieve the Hoshin targets and establish new targets.

3)Preview production and operating reports and resolve operational manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays as needed.

4)Develop and work with Specialist’s in all areas such as safety, communication, quality improvements, employee relations, problem solving, setting and achieving goals, manufacturing processes, scheduling, equipment problems, etc.

5)Work closely with department in the areas of safety and quality.  Ensure programs are maintained, the department is in compliance with the standards, and the appropriate training is effectively given to all employees.

6)Provide assistance to Team Members and Specialist’s in solving work-related problems. Evaluate the issue and consult management and/or Human resources as needed to determine the most effective resolution.

7)Develop and revise standard operational and working practices and observe employees to ensure compliance.

8)Ability to work with the Manager to fill in in the absence of Mgr.

9) Ability to identify and train successors for not only Asst. Mgr. position, but Specialists and Team Leaders also.

10) Ability to communicate openly and respectfully to all level in the Facility.

11) Ensure TAC policy and procedures are being followed. Ability to correct and follow up on these issues.

12) Must be flexible and able to work in all areas and in your department regardless of duties listed above in order to accomplish TAC goals and objectives

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Environment (example):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to conditions of heat in the summer and cold in the winter and will work near moving mechanical parts. Uniform clothing and PPE provisions are provided by the company and are designed to assist with these conditions. Team members are also exposed to noise, which may require the use of hearing protection in certain areas.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work (example):

This is a full-time shift-work position. Overtime is required as needed to meet customer demand and may involve weekend work.

Education and Experience: 

College degree is required or five (5) years of manufacturing experience in a supervisory role and a high school diploma or G.E.D, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
